Surge Sports-Entertainment Network proudly announces the launch of a brand-new professional wrestling talk show titled “It’s Not Our Fault” featuring former WWE superstar Snitsky and longtime WWE referee Mike Chioda.
With a career spanning three decades, Mike Chioda became one of the most recognized and well-known referees in the history of the WWE. He is known world-wide as “The Ref of My Childhood” and “3rd Man in the Ring”. Born in Bayonne and growing up near Philadelphia on the New Jersey side, he became close with Gorilla Monsoon and Joey Morella who helped him get into being a professional wrestling referee in 1987. His involvement with pro wrestling actually began in 1985 when he was with the ring crew and TV production. His WWE tenure started in 1989, when he subsequently made his TV debut, and ran through to 2020. After WWE, Mike spent a couple of years in the AEW circuit before finally retiring for good in 2022. During his amazing and long career, he was no stranger to some of the biggest, well-known matches in the history of pro wrestling. Many of these matches were for championship belts including the 1996 bout between Shawn Michaels and the British Bulldog. In January of 1998, he was the referee for the Intercontinental Championship between The Rock and Ken Shamrock at Royal Rumble. Of course, Mike has also refereed in the sport’s biggest yearly event, WrestleMania. Among the most popular of these events donning the zebra stripes in front of a massive world-wide audience was:
WrestleMania 14 (Shawn Michaels vs Steve Austin)
WrestleMania 18 (The Rock vs Hulk Hogan)
WrestleMania 21 (Triple H vs Batista)
WrestleMania 23 (Shawn Michaels vs John Cena)
WrestleMania 28 (John Cena vs The Rock)
WrestleMania 31 (Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns) when Seth Rollins cashed in his Money In the Bank contract while the main event was in progress.
As the WWE continued to grow with weekly high-end matches such as SmackDown! and Raw, Mike became the senior referee for these shows. On SmackDown! he refereed one of the most iconic moments in WWE history when the ring collapses after Brock Lesnar super-plexes Big Show from the top rope (2003). Another iconic moment in WWE history that saw Mike as the 3rd man in the ring was during 2001’s King of the Ring Street Fight between Shane McMahon and Kurt Angle. This match is considered one of the most brutal and memorable matches highlighted by a botched spot when McMahon was thrown through real plexiglass instead of the usual breakaway sugar glass. Needless to say, he has worked with just about every major star in the business, many of which have become big-time Hollywood talent as well. During his time in WWE, he came across another superstar Snitsky. Mike spent many years traveling with Snitsky creating a bond to this day and many many stories that they cannot wait to share.
While everyone knows Snitsky as a former WWE superstar, he was also a star football player. He led Pather Valley High School to its first ever District 11 Championship, while also earning 1st team All-State in the process. He also led the basketball team to a 29-2 record, making it to the Eastern State Finals. He was also the starting center for the Keystone State Games. After high school he attended Missouri on a full football scholarship where he was coached by Andy Reid, the former Philadelphia Eagles head coach and Super Bowl winning head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. He was invited to the 1993 NFL Combine and signed a free agent contract with the San Diego Chargers. Unfortunately, a prior torn labrum injury in college affected him in training camp and that led him to a brief stint in the Canadian Football League with the Birmingham Barracudas. After retiring from football, he moved on to pursue his dream of becoming a WWE superstar where he was trained by Afa Anoa’i Sr. of the Legendary Samoan Dynasty. In the WWE he became widely-known for his catch phrase “It Wasn’t My Fault”. In 2018, he was inducted into the Carbon County Area Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. Outside of the sports world, he was heavily involved in the successful horror film “100 Acres of Hell” where he had a lead acting role while also being an Executive Producer, Lead Stunt Coordinator and Writer. He is also very active in charity events and foundations. He is the proud spokesperson for the “Buck Autism” campaign, works closely with “Bustin’ for Autism” and the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors and Keystone Military Families, just to name a few. In 2016 he won the Silver Medal in the Strict Arm Curl category at the Arnold Classic in South Africa.
“It’s Not Our Fault” sees Snitsky teaming with Mike Chioda to deliver a new, yet different show discussing all things sports and entertainment with a focus on professional wrestling. Their new show will feature insider stories, honest commentary and non-stop humorous takes surrounding the sports and entertainment world. When adding in scheduled appearances from special guests from MLB, NFL, rock ‘n roll and more, you can see how this show will be different than most with so much more to offer! Uncensored. Unfiltered. Unapologetic.
The program will premiere soon on the Surge Sports & Entertainment Network, which continues expanding its lineup of sports talk shows, podcasts and original programming available on major streaming platforms including Roku and Amazon Fire TV.
“It’s Not Our Fault” is expected to become a must-watch program for sports and wrestling fans who want authentic insight from two figures who helped shape modern sports entertainment.
